Awesome.  So glad I'm so close to this.

So, I don't know if you Rice kids have heard about how the Sid secretaries are having to deal with sexual harassment charges again, but I read it in the Thresher a couple weeks ago after a night of drinking.  Well, I apparently got furious and felt like I needed to write a letter to the editor right then and there.  I sent it in, and it's been published this week.  I'm a little embarrassed, because it's a little bit of a drunk rant, and not my best writing, but I stand behind the message.

Click on opinions, and under that click on letters to the editor.

I was reminded of the whole Patrick and Vinay incident all over again, how much it completely affected their lives, and how everything for blown out of proportion.  I hope that isn't going to happen to the secretaries all over again.

I have a confession to make:  I hate Valentine's day. And it's not just because I am single.  I hate the fact that it is this manufactered holiday that people make such a huge deal out of.  People freak out over not having a boyfriend or girlfriend.  And then if they do have a boyfriend or girlfriend, they freak out over what to get them, where to go to dinner, if they are going to get you something, etc etc.  I hate all the buildup.  It's always an anti climactic let down.

I personally believe that if you are in a relationship, you shouldn't need a Hallmark holiday to show the person you are with that you care about them.  Every year when I have had a boyfriend, it's like they feel obligated to do stuff.  I would much rather receive flowers on a random Thursday in June, just because.  That actually means something

I probably come off as sounding bitter, but I'm sick of the madness.  Anyone else with me?
